Welcome to the Edgerton Local School District web pages. We are pleased that you have chosen to visit us. The 2008/2009 school year offers challenges and opportunities for our staff and our students.

The district started an all day every day kindergarten program for the 2008/2009 school year. With the additional academic requirements for kindergarten it has been difficult to cover the curriculum and do developmentally appropriate activities.  The kindergarten staff of Sue Winebar and Ellen Wolfrum has been joined by Kristin Diaz.  These ladies are very excited about the new challenges and the new opportunities the year will bring.

The district is three years into across the board cuts which have moved the district into a better financial position.  The staff has picked up the slack and students are still being served well.  The administration has worked hard to identify funds before adding program.  The additional kindergarten staff member needed to offer three sections of all day kindergarten was a funded through a reduction of one section of third grade.  Even with that reduction third grade class size is expected to be in the mid-twenties.

The Ohio School Facilities Commission has identified the district to receive funding to complete the building project that resulted in the opening of Edgerton High School in 2004.  The board of education will work hard to maximize district facilities in a cost effective manner.  As information becomes available the public will be kept informed.
